Lee Donehue

My Background...

I started my acting career about 8 years ago, but more seriously in 1999.

I come from a fairly average family, played a lot of sport when I was a teenager and it was never the "done thing" to be involved in theatre or the arts. During my younger years however I did dapple in performing through dance and I remember playing the "lead" in a primary school dance production. Being up on stage, in the spotlight was a buzz I shall never forget. Whenever I watched the High School productions I wished I was up there, performing.

I got a clerical job when I finished my HSC, (didn't get high enough marks to go to uni) and I guess worked to the top of my field in administration and office management. After a stint living over in the UK , my partner and I moved from our hometown of Newcastle (yes, I'm a Novocastrian - don't hold that against me!) to Sydney to improve our work prospects.

portrait of Lee DonehueI landed a job in sales with Pepsi Cola and was there for 7 years moving through Call Centre Management, Category Management and Retail Analysis, finally retiring to move north with my partner, now husband. During my latter years at Pepsi, we were going through a corporate take over and I became quite stagnant and bored. That is when I decided a career change was needed and I decided to try my hand in the acting game.

Lee is also the force behind Quiet on Set and a supporter of merelyplayers™.

The mission of QuietOnSet is to provide an information service to actors and other industry professionals, to help them find the right training and the right tools to find work.
